The St. George Place Civic Association, Inc. is a nonprofit civic association created to give residents and property owners an active voice in matters that affect the neighborhood — and to support the activities that improve everyday life here.


Who does what in St. George Place
Several organizations serve the neighborhood, each with a different role. This website is only about the Civic Association.
Civic Association (SGPCA)
Resident voice, security coordination, beautification, meetings, events, and neighborhood communication. Not an HOA.

An independent governmental entity with its own administration, finances, notices, and services.
TIRZ #1 (external website)
Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 1 and its public infrastructure responsibilities.
City of Houston (external website)
City services, departments, 311 reporting, and public information.
An established community in the heart of Uptown.

From Lamar Terrace to St. George Place
- 1950s
Originally developed as Lamar Terrace. By the 1980s, the area had seen substantial disinvestment.
- c. 1990
Public reinvestment rebuilt streets, drainage, lighting, sidewalks, and landscaping — through entities distinct from SGPCA.
- 1999
Residents formed the Saint George Place Civic Association to steward the neighborhood’s long-term quality of life.
